What our membership of The 5% Club means
Through our membership of The 5% Club we demonstrate our commitment to developing our employees. The 5% Club is an industry led initiative focussed on driving momentum into the recruitment of apprentices, graduates and sponsored students.
Initiated by Leo Quinn, Group CEO of Balfour Beatty in 2013, The 5% Club is a movement of more than 700 employers providing ‘earn and learn’ opportunities to develop the skills and talents people need to become more employable and create meaningful careers. Through our joining of the The 5% Club we commit to raising the number of apprentices, sponsored students and graduates on formal programmes to 5% of our total workforce within five years. We look forward to sharing updates on our progress.

How we support our local community
IMH has a strong local connection to Middlesbrough and Teesside and we’re proud of our roots in the area. We do what we can to support the community in which we work and live. Over the years this has included supporting a number of charities and organisations that can provide services to enhance the lives of individuals in our community.
In November 2021, we donated a number of filled shoe boxes which were distrubuted to support a number of groups and organisations, including:
- Moses Project in Stockton, who will be providing hampers to 100’s of families
- Middlesbrough’s Neighbourhood Welfare Homeless Café
- RASPS – supporting refugees in Stockton
- A Way Out in Stockton, supporting vulnerable women
- My Sisters Place & Harbour, who support those who are affected by domestic violence and abuse
We are also a proud supporter of The Teesside Charity, which joins together businesses and individuals to make Middlesbrough and Teesside better places in which to live, work and do business.
IMH donated £1,000 to its appeal to provide laptops to school children, who were home-schooling, so that they could continue to access their learning.
In April 2020, we also responded to its call to provide iPad Minis for Covid wards in Teesside hospitals, hospices and care homes to allow patients and residents to stay in touch with family and friends.
Most recently, we have also signed up to be a member of its Infant Hercules Charity Club. The business membership is designed to appeal to successful SMEs who are keen to support the foundation.

We’re proud to be helping to make a difference to the most disadvantaged Teessiders.
