Supporting Middlesbrough Foodbank with an urgent hydraulic repair

When a local charity called on us to help repair an essential piece of hydraulic equipment in its operations, we were happy to help!

Middlesbrough Foodbank, which provides over 6,000kg of monthly food supplies to support the Teesside community, reached out for support when it discovered a potential leak on its hydraulically operated aid.

The system, which is used for lifting and moving pallets of produce within its warehouse, as well as assisting with the loading and unloading of delivery vehicles, plays an essential role in ensuring the charity can serve the community effectively. Therefore, ensuring it remained safe and operational was the charity’s number one priority.

IMH is proud to have assisted the charity by collecting the unit, carrying out a full inspection, making necessary mechanical adjustments, and thoroughly testing the hydraulic system to confirm it met industry safety standards. Once complete, the equipment was returned to Middlesbrough Foodbank’s warehouse – helping to keep this vital operation running smoothly.

Tracey Godfrey-Harrison, Project Manager at Middlesbrough Foodbank, said: “We are really grateful for the support given to us from IMH; we had a problem with our lift and didn’t know what to do. IMH came and collected the lift and tested it for us, the staff were really friendly and helpful.

“IMH didn’t charge us for their service and as a charity, this gesture meant a lot to us. We will definitely be using IMH again and will recommend them to others.”

Managing Director at IMH, James Griffiths, added: “It’s a privilege to play even a small part in supporting the outstanding work that Middlesbrough Foodbank continues to do across our community.

“IMH has always had strong ties to the Teesside community, having been founded in 1983 by proud Teessider and my dad, Paul Griffiths. Which is why being able to support a charity, like Middlesbrough Foodbank, who cares so much about the people within our region, and giving back to the community is really important to us.”

In April 2025, Paul won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Tees Business Awards for his services and dedication to the region. This recognition was celebrated far and wide throughout our company as giving back to our community in any way we can is a shared passion at IMH.
