Paul Griffiths recognised for commitment to engineering and apprenticeships in New Year’s Honours List
We’re delighted to announce that our founder, Paul Griffiths, was awarded an MBE for Services to Engineering Skills and Apprenticeships in Teesside in the New Year’s Honours.
Paul launched IMH in 1983 from his home in Middlesbrough, and since then we have delivered major engineering projects offering services across design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, maintenance and repairs, as well as component supplies and training.
Paul has demonstrated a long-term commitment to providing opportunities to young people, developing engineering talent and promoting engineering as an attractive career choice.
Our apprenticeship scheme was established in 1995 and has since helped young people from the North East of England and beyond to establish their careers in hydraulic engineering.
As part of our commitment to inspiring the next generation of young talent, in 2014 we inaugurated the IMH Technical Training Centre, which plays an important role in our apprenticeship programme.
Each year we recruit apprentices in mechanical/hydraulic engineering, pipefitting and fabrication. Our rigorous training programme is delivered and assessed in addition to the national apprenticeship framework/NVQs through a dedicated technical trainer who applies practical and theoretical training and conducts assessments.
Paul Griffiths, MBE, founder of IMH said: “It’s extremely humbling to be awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List.
“I would like to thank my family for their tremendous support. I’d also like to thank the Industrial & Marine Hydraulics team for all their hard work in helping to build the business over the last 35 years.
“I believe that it’s vital to pass specialist engineering expertise on to new generations and to ensure that engineering talent has the chance to thrive in areas such as Teesside.
“I’m very proud of our track record in providing opportunities to young people through our apprenticeship scheme and Technical Training Centre.”
